Selection

We give interested
students the chance to put themselves forward for selection, following
a presentation of the programme at a school assembly by Future Leaders staff.
Students
nominate themselves by completing a simple CV. This will include
listing their potential and key skills and any leadership roles
they have played at home, school, church or in the community.
A final selection will
be made by the School Dean and Future Leaders staff. The students
will have a final interview, and at this point a meeting will be
arranged with the successful students' caregivers. Following this
meeting, selected students will officially be welcomed into the
Future Leaders Programme. Both caregivers and students will sign
a contract outlining the terms of acceptance, expectations, etc.
Each student and her mentor
will develop an individualised development plan each year. This
plan will include:
- academic and community goals
- programmes to enhance confidence or self-esteem
- physical/sporting activity or outdoor education
- health knowledge including smoking, drugs, alcohol, sexual health
- appropriate cultural activity
- areas of personal interest
